To the left of my left foot, you can see the plank that we unearthed. It was buried at an angle and terminated under the patio.
In this picture, I'm wiping off the sweat and pondering how to remove the embedded plank. After trying a saw through dirt, we eventually used a chisel and a mallet to fracture it near the patio boundary.
