For years, I’ve shaved with the Mach 3 and have been pleased. But when I ran out of blades and my local Kroger was out of refills, I decided to try the Quattro. From the name, you can guess that it has four blades versus the three that the Mach 3 has.
I would have to say that it does probably shave just a bit better. But I think we’re about at the end of the line here. I cannot see a Mach 5 being viable, but I think I like the name still better. Anyway, for now, I’m refilling with Quattros.
So what do you guys use? And if you use a Quattro, do you think its really better or am I predisposed to thinking its better just because of the number of blades?
I was amused to hear of the Quattro. I remember thinking, sheesh, what’s the limit? Maybe Shick will come out with the “Infinity”, thinking that they’ve won the race. But then Gillete would just come out with the “Ininity + 1″.
Or worse, they’d start competing at different cardinalities of infinity, with one brand having the same number of blades as integers, only to have the other bring out a shaver with as many blades as real numbers.
I’ll stop now.
I use and will always use the Shick FX Diamond two bladed razor…
For one it kills the Mach 3 in alot of different angles eg: Price, Avalibility, Lifespan, Comfort and it just plain looks better.
The Mach 3 is a boring shave and a boring razor, the Turbo is no better an extra strip and “anti-friction blades” for more $$ when you could buy an FX for much less and get a longer lasting more enjoyable shave. I think when the Gellete found that the Mach 3 was loosing its appeal so thier “brilliant” marketing exec’s probably sat around a table for hours trying to think about how to save thier product, well one future CEO probably said “oh, oh lets paint it red maybe it will cut better!” Ya right!! Does Gellete actually think the consumer is that dumb? The answer is yes…
My advice to gellete is just give it up merge with Shick and let them teach you how to make a good razor for once. You could both come togeather to make a super razor Shick for Design and Everything else and Gellete for colour coordination…
Cheers

I can no longer find the Diamond FX Blades. Any help?
I’ve been looking, too. This is the only place I’ve found so far:

I use the new Gillette M3 vibrating razor and it makes me sick to my stomach to purchase $16 replacement blades every 2 months. My friend, who claims to be an expert on shaving becasue he shaves his head, recommended a product call Edgesaver to extend blade life. He claims it works very well but want to get some other opinions. Has anyone used this prodcut? If yes, please email me and provide feedback on performance. -Mike J
